Our volunteers are the voice of local parents and are working to make a big difference to local maternity services.

We’re really keen to ensure we represent all mums in the county, and to do that we need a wide range of mums to join us!

How you can get involved

Each of our volunteers brings their own wealth of experience to Gloucestershire Maternity Voices, these experiences aren’t just related to maternity, and we have members from a whole range of backgrounds, from teachers to accountants, healthcare workers to stay at home mums.

There are lots of ways you can get involved, depending on how involved you want to be, and how much time you can spare.

  • Join our committee. We have a WhatsApp group where we discuss upcoming priorities and ideas, and arrange events. The committee has monthly meetings, usually in person but currently using Zoom. Kids are welcome at meetings, they’re a relaxed atmosphere!
  • Join our closed Facebook group where you can get involved whenever suits you. Comment on discussion threads, and give feedback on documents, posters, surveys or ideas we’ve been asked to review by the maternity teams.
  • Follow us on social media to get updates on what we’re doing, and join in if you see something that interests you!

If you’re not sure about any of these options or would like more information, get in touch and we can have a chat.

If you would like to get involved, fill in this form and we will be in touch!

Come and see us at one of the events we are attending to find out more about Gloucestershire Maternity Voices or to tell us your experiences. From time to time, we hold drop-ins or coffee mornings that have a particular theme. Please do come along if you can, it is a great way to meet other like minded people and of course, babies, toddlers and children are welcome to come along too.

Further information about these will be posted here and promoted through our Facebook page.

Personalised Care Plans – Journey to Parenthood

New parents were invited to join the team from Gloucestershire Better Births Programme at The School House Café in Cheltenham on 18th January 2019 to gather feedback on how we can personalise their Journeys to Parenthood. This was as a result of a collaboration across the South West to design and implement personalised care plans for women.

We were absolutely overwhelmed with how well attended the session was. Thank you to those that took the time to come along for a coffee, say hello and enjoy the AMAZING cake! Women who attended gave us some great suggestions and we’ve incorporated this feedback into the design of our first draft personalised care plan. We’re also driving forward with our Digital Journey which was suggested and endorsed by many women on the day.

We hope to run similar events in the future so please do keep a look out on our ‘events’ section of the website – we really value hearing your experiences, thoughts and feedback as after all, parents are the perfect judges for this!

Since this event we have taken the feedback received and now have an initial design which we will develop and share again! Here is a sneak peak of the design.

Tell us about your recent experience

Your feedback and experiences can help shape and improve maternity services in Gloucestershire. You can tell us about positive or negative aspects of your care, your views on things that could be improved, and anything else that you think would be useful to share. It can be about the birth, your antenatal or postnatal care or experiences with other health services you have used while you were pregnant. Please include which hospital, birth centre or community maternity service you are providing feedback on.

Thank you very much for sharing your views. We are unable to respond to you personally, but your comments will be shared anonymously with the Local Maternity System in Gloucestershire to help inform their work.
